Frequently Asked Questions
What are your rates?
My rate is $175 an hour. I also charge $200 an hour for rush projects which need to be completed within 1-2 business days.
How do you bill?
I generally bill per hour. Oftentimes my clients may ask me to cap the project at a set amount of hours. I always accommodate those requests. If I feel that the project could benefit from additional time, I will inform the attorney as to why I believe that is the case and allow the attorney to assess whether additional work should be completed.
Is there a set amount of projects or billable hours?
There are no obligations with my contract. You can send me as little, or as much work as you need done.
I have a particular style when it comes to my pleadings, how do you accommodate that?
Many of the attorneys I work with have a specific style or format that they like. I always ask for a template or sample, as well as constructive feedback after each project is completed. This allows me to begin to adapt and accommodate for the preferences of the specific attorney. After working together for some time, it falls into a good rhythm.
Do you work remotely or do you come into the office?
That depends on your location and what you need. I work remotely for a majority of my clients. For some firms, I have full access to their server and can access any and all documents necessary to complete the project. Other clients will send me the documents needed to complete the task. If you prefer that for some tasks I come into the office, it can be arranged.
How do I send assignments?
You can call me and explain what you need done, or you can email me the task. I will always confirm that I have received it and that I can complete it based upon your deadline.
Do you have any research tools?
I have access to Judicata, the Rutter Guide, CEB, as well as Westlaw. You do not need to provide me with legal resources to get the projects done.
How do you address conflicts of interest?
Prior to assigning a task, I will always ask that you inform me of whether there is an opposing counsel, and what the name of the client is. If there is a conflict, I will immediately let you know so that you are not divulging confidential information.
Do you speak to the clients?
I do not have client or counsel interaction unless I am specifically listed on your malpractice insurance as a practicing attorney. Many of my clients choose to include me on their malpractice insurance, and I am listed as “Of Counsel” on their website. This allows for me to complete projects with client interaction.
What is your availability?
I generally will work on projects any day of the week. If it is not a last minute project, I can coordinate and schedule projects so that I can ensure your project is completed in a timely manner.
Do you do court appearances?
I do not do court appearances.
Do you carry malpractice?
I do not carry malpractice insurance. It is the responsibility of your firm to ensure that there is sufficient malpractice insurance to cover the work that I complete. Per my contract, it is your responsibility to review my work and make any edits or strategy calls that are necessary before serving or filing.
